Did Hurricane Harvey cause a lot of people to file bankruptcy?

Based on my experience as a Houston bankruptcy attorney, yes, Hurricane Harvey caused a lot of people to file bankruptcy. I have seen and am still seeing many people filing bankruptcy because of debt they incurred directly related to Harvey. From SBA loans to mortgage arrears to credit card debt from buying materials from Home Depot. Many people come into my office and say they are there just because of Harvey, and get into detail on exactly why and how the debt otherwise would not exist had it not been for their home flooding.

What is more interesting is that Harvey hit in August 2017, and now, in 2020 and in the end of 2019, is where I am seeing most people coming in from Harvey.
