Basic Chapter 13 Time Line

Day of Filing

Case Begins. Automatic Stay goes into effect. A Trustee is assigned to your case. 

30 Days After Filing

First payment under payment plan is due. You must make the payment. 

40 Days After Filing

A Section 341 Meeting of Creditors is held. You must attend this meeting. 

3 to 5 Years After Filing

If you made all your plan payments, your debts are discharged.
