5 Tips to Improve Your Credit After Bankruptcy

These are five ways to improve your credit after you filed bankruptcy:

  1. Get a credit card and pay it back in full every month on time. If you pay it in full every month, you will not be charged interest. Make sure to only charge a small amount on the card every month, say $40, so that you can actually pay it in full when its due.

  2. Get a secured credit card from a bank and pay it in full every month on time. A secured card is card where you pay, for example, $500, for the card and if you default you lose the $500. The $500 was the security. Again, pay it in full every month on time.

  3. Don't do anything. If you don't do anything, your credit will usually still be better over time than if you had not filed a bankruptcy.

  4. Hire a reputable credit repair agency. They wipe off any negative incorrect marks on your credit report.

  5. Become an authorized user on someone else's credit card. This is sometimes claimed to improve your credit.
